INFO

The Finnish Maritime Administration produces coast charts (1:50 000) for coast and archipelago sailing. Chart series (1:50 000) are produced for boating enthusiasts. These charts also include enlargements (1:20 000) for areas demanding precise navigating. Charts and chart series on various scales are also available for lake areas. Nautical charts are updated annually and chart series every other year. The charts include important navigational information as well as the locations and numbers of visit harbours.

Besides the chart a boater needs the visit harbour book Käyntisatamat-Besökshamnar 2010 to obtain more accurate and up-to-date information about the harbours and their services. Käyntisatamat-Besökshamnar 2010 covers all classified visit harbours on Finnish coast line (including the Åland islands and the Archipelago) presenting them in an easy to use symbol-based format, which can be read in English, Finnish, Swedish and German. The numbers of the harbours in the book correlate with the numbers on the charts increasing from east to west, making route planning and refuge seeking fast, easy and convenient.

Each harbour is displayed with a high definition computer graphic chart enlargement, location coordinates to use with GPS systems, mooring possibilities, contacts and service symbols that are explained in four languages. All the guest harbours are classified by an independent expert group in five different categories, for example safety, environment and service. The most significant harbours are presented with aerial colour photos. Distance diagrams of all the chart series are shown to help planning schedules and routes.

The book will be published in May 2010 and can be ordered straight from Päijätmark Ky via the internet or by phone, fax or mail. It will also be for sale at various retail stores (book stores, nautical chart stores, guest harbours etc.).
